L’œuvre est une réinterprétation d’une nature morte « Flower Still Life with Bird’s Nest » (1718) peinte par Jan van Huysum, principal peintre hollandais de pièces florales au XVIIIe siècle. Par le collage et le remaniement pictural de certains éléments présents dans l’œuvre originale, Léo Fourdrinier rend compte du caractère sélectif et partiel de la mémoire, qui accompagne la fragilité de l’existence représentée dans la genre de la nature morte.
The work is a reinterpretation of a still life “Flower Still Life with Bird’s Nest” (1718) painted by Jan van Huysum, the leading Dutch painter of floral pieces in the 18th century. By collage and pictorial reworking of certain elements present in the original work, Léo Fourdrinier takes account of the selective and partial nature of memory, which accompanies the fragility of existence represented in the still life genre.
