Réalisée pour Art-o-rama, cette sculpture est une reconstitution imaginaire de Janus. Dieu romain des portes et des choix, des commencements et des fins, qualifié de « Dieu le père » et l’un des dieux les plus anciens de la mythologie, Janus incarne le passé comme l’avenir. Il est, pour Léo Fourdrinier, un symbole fort de la ville de Marseille, aux prises avec son passé antique et son présent industriel. 

Created for Art-o-rama, this sculpture is an imaginary recreation of Janus. The Roman god of doors and choices, beginnings and endings, known as “God the father” and one of the oldest gods in mythology, Janus embodies both the past and the future. For Léo Fourdrinier, he is a powerful symbol of the city of Marseille, grappling with its ancient past and its industrial present.
